About Leopoldstadt on Broadway

TOM STOPPARD returns to Broadway with his critically acclaimed, Olivier Award-winning Best Play.

Set in Vienna, the play takes its title from the Jewish quarter. This passionate drama of love and endurance begins in the last days of 1899 and follows one extended family deep into the heart of the 20th century. Full of his customary wit and beauty, Stoppard’s late work spans fifty years of time over two hours.

'This is a momentous new play. Tom Stoppard has reached back into his own family history to craft a work that is both epic and intimate; that is profoundly personal, but which concerns us all.' - Financial Times With a cast of 38 actors and direction by Patrick Marber, ‘LEOPOLDSTADT’ will play on Broadway beginning September 14.

This 'unforgettable family saga' (The Sunday Times) must not be missed.

Absorbing, Honorable, Relevant, Intelligent, Great writing

See it if The value of a human life, of a family’s existence, mean something to you. This heartfelt powerful story, as so man stories, should be seen

Don’t see it if The stories of the holocaust are too heavy. But there is so much to identify with and to care about and be moved by in this production.

Intense, Intelligent, Great writing, Great staging, Great acting

See it if Set in Leopoldstadt, the Jewish quarter of Vienna, the beautifully produced play examines a multigenerational fam from 1899 2after Holocaust

Don’t see it if U may feel overwhelmed by the extended family of 38 people. Only in the end I realized that the priority here isn't to know each character*

Compelling, Profound, Epic, Moving, Powerful

See it if Magic of theater makes the past come alive and the present a faint shadow. Great acting, dialog, costumes, sound, and use of photography.

Don’t see it if I was hesitant to see another holocaust play, but this was more than that. It said something profound & moving about the passage of time.

Profound, Intelligent, Great acting, Ambitious, Absorbing

See it if Historical play following a Jewish family in Vienna from the 1890's - 1950's. Beautifully written, performed, designed and acted.

Don’t see it if This is an important play well worth seeing. However, the final modern day scene left me a bit cold.
